Review on Slayers and other anime
Hello. Joppo and I have decided to sacrifice our time and effort to watch and read and review as much anime and manga as possible for all the internet surfers. While you marvel at our self-sacrificing nature *yeah right* it seems only fair to warn you of the two loonies which actually hold these opinions. While both of us are devout anime maniacs, and proud to be that way, our tastes differ slightly.
Okay, widely.
I’m light and fluffy girl for those who enjoy sweet stuff with no brainers, though Mel often does find it ironic that I’m the more bloodthirsty one of the group. I don’t know how that works, but it just does. Anyhow, while I actually prefer light and fluffy or more humour in my shows, I can also appreciate well-done animes and actually do like shows out of my main spectrum of likes i.e. light, fluffy and sweet (I can like angst, but not often. Not unless I’m influenced by my slightly crazed anime partner-in-crime. Normally I require at least a tinge of humour to make it palpable.) I’m very attracted to good drawings i.e. stylish and really appreciate well-thought out or fascinating new concepts. Which explains why I like Akira though I’m not that fond of its drawings. I’ve also got a couple of other quirks which you would also probably discover if you read my reviews.
Jop/Mel on the other hand is into dark and angst. She enjoys it when people *dies*, yes dies… and don’t deny it Mel, you actually liked the 24th (or was that the 25th?) episode of Trigun! (The fact that I thought it was good too is completely irrelevant to this tirade *grin*) Still, I guess that she is redeemed by the fact that she enjoys “Koko wa Greenwood” though I’m still reeling from the fact that she enjoys Naga’s laugh *shudder* (And I discovered this around June last year)
Footnote: I think I better add my two cents in before this gets totally carried away!!! =P
Hi. I'm Jop. And no, I don't deliberately go out hunting for anime where the heroes die *dry look*, but I _do_ make a point to hunt for a good story-line. *mock sulks* It's not my fault that most of the good plots by coincidence happen to involve some form of angst/tragedy/drama/etc. As Yen vaguely alluded to, I like plot. I'm a plot person. The more intricate, and more developed the better.
So give me Gundam, AD police, Trigun.
Heh heh, but like my saner counterpart, I do appreciate good drawing, animation. Okay, maybe appreciate is a mild term for sad instances where I pick anime solely based on the cover when I'm looking for something new to try and have no access to the plot... *sheepish grin* I've made a few mistakes in my time, but hey, I've pulled out gems like Trigun [the blurb at the back of the box set was incomprehensible] and Weib Kreuz... *grin* Humour is cool with me, and I do appreciate it, but between the both of us, I work best with angst and serious stuff, while Yen handles the less serious aspects of life.
But basically we fluff-ify and angst-ify each other so it makes it pretty even overall.
